Familiarity with K-12 Curriculum Framework and MEAP Asssessment

I have had experience with curriculum framework in the following teaching assignments:

Teaching experience in regular education classroom in private school (K, 1,3,4,7,8,9,10, 11, 12)

Teaching experience in regular education classroom in public school (Middle School English/History and Math; High School Math; Substitute Teacher all grades; Home and Hospital Teaching)

Teaching Experience ESL (adult education)

Teaching experience Special Education 5/6 Grade, Special Day Class; K-6 Bilingual Resource Program; High School Resource Program History, Science, and Math

I worked on a team to align curriculum framework with special education goals and objectives. This was in Arizona so we were developing standards to align with the AIMS Test.  Since I am new to Michigan, I have not worked directly with Michigan K-12 Curriculum Framework and Assessment.  I have had doctoral level coursework on Standards and Assessments.

In the special education classes that I teach at Spring Arbor, I use the Council for Exceptional Children Standards. I align my curse objectives with these national standards for special education.

Special Awards and Recognition

Arizona School Board Association – Golden Bell Award (Second Place in the State); Walt Disney—Teacher of the Year (Nominee); Target—District Teacher of the Year Award; WalMart—District Teacher of the Year Research Internship—School Violence and Family Interaction

P-12 Collaborative Work

As a special education teacher, I spent extensive time collaborating and consulting with regular education teachers. I led IEP teams, Manifestation Hearings, and Student Study Teams.  It was my responsibility to see that regular education teachers implemented goals and objectives for each student’s IEP.  I was an advocate and support for approximately 25 students each year.  I developed relationships with students and families.
