Answer to a Frequently Asked Question

APA Format

APA (American Psychological Assication) format is a convention or set of guidelines used within the academic education profession for formatting and referencing written materials. It is used at Spring Arbor by faculty and students in the School of Education. More information on APA format can be obtained from the American Psychological Association's online resources, notably their FAQ section. The School of Education recommends that its students purchase a copy of Jan Yeaman's brief but complete writing guide, called Writing Guidelines for College, for a good introduction to writing using APA format. Yeaman's guide can be purchased at the bookstore on the main campus or by special arrangement at any of the external sites; the cost is small (less than $10) and well worth it.

For the writing sample that is required for admission to the MAE program, the essential aspects of APA are: 12 pt font, 1" left and right margins, and double line spacing.
