Courses in the undergraduate program fall into one of four categories:
Secondary Professional
The secondary education professional course sequence of 37-40
hours must be completed with a GPA of at least 2.60 with every individual
course grade at 2.0 or above.
- EDU 100 Introduction to Teaching (1)
- EDU 200 Foundations of American Education (3)
- EDU 262 Human Learning and Development (3)
- EDU 271 The Diverse Learner (4); special education majors
should take EDU 273 Diversity Issues fo Educators instead of EDU 271,
and non-special education majors who successfully transfer in a general
diversity class in education may take EDU 272 instead of EDU 271
- a methods course for each major and minor
(variable credit hours depending on course)
- EDU 360 Integrating Technology in Teaching (2)
- EDU 425 Reading Development in Middle and Secondary Content
Areas (3)
- EDU 429 Effective Teaching Strategies (3)
- EDU 430S Seminar in Teaching Secondary School (3)
- EDU 450S Directed Teaching (12); additional credit hours
and/or additional weeks will be required for endorsements in such areas
as early childhood education, special education:learning disabilities
or subject area endorsements for those certifying in elementary education
Elementary Minor
The elementary education minor course
sequence of 26 hours must be completed with a GPA of at least 2.60 with
every individual course grade at 2.0 or above.
