ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to this online application , you will need to provide the following materials.

A writing sample.
This might include a published magazine, newspaper, or journal article. You could also send an undergraduate or graduate research paper or a work related proposal. The sample should have been written in the two years. This may be emailed directly to Bonnie Minier, the SAUonline Coordinator, or sent to the mailing address below.
 

Scores from the General Information section of the Graduate Record Exam. Information about this exam, and about test services and locations, is available at their website. The General Test is given year-round at computer-based test centers ( http://etsis4.ets.org/tcenter/cbt_dm.cfm) in the U.S., Canada, and many other countries. Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. In these locations, the paper-based General Test is not available.

To register to test in the U. S., American Samoa, Guam, U. S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Canada, call 1-800-GRE-CALL .

A score of at least 40th percentile or higher is required. The GRE must have been taken within last 5 years. Scores should be sent directly from the testing service to the university at the mailing address below.

A student who completes all other application materials can be admitted on a conditional basis and complete the GRE during the first semester or waive it by completing nine hours in our program at a 3.5 or better. Students who have completed another master's degree, or who transfer in at least nine graduate hours at 3.5 or better may also waive the GRE.

 
Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate course work. A completed bachelor's degree or master's degree is required, with a GPA of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale). A bachelor's and/or master's degree in a communication-related field is preferred but not required. Students whose GPA is less than 3.0 may apply for admission to the program after completing 3 or more courses in the program, provided all other admissions requirements are met. Transcripts should be sent from the schools you attended previously directly to the university at the mailing address below.
 
Three recommendations. These should be from two faculty members or current supervisors and from a member of the clergy of your faith community. If you waive the right to review this recommendation, they may complete this reference form online. If you do not waive the right to review the recommendation, or if your reference would prefer to complete and mail the form, you can download it here.
 
Personal Goals Statement. In two pages or less, briefly describe your personal or professional goals as they relate to graduate studies in communication at a Christian university. Email this statement to Bonnie Minier, SAUonline Coordinator.
 
Online Computer Literacy Test. This online literacy test assesses your current computer skills, as well as the hardware and software configurations necessary for our online program.
 
Browser Checkup . This Browser Checkup checks your browser's ability to use a number of plug-ins that enable you to function as an online learner. If you cannot successfully complete each test on the Tech Test page please contact the SAU Helpdesk (helpdesk@arbor.edu, toll free 877-728-9880, or 517-750-1234.
 
Please note, international students must also provide evidence of language proficiency if English is not the native language. A TESOL score of 550 is required. Evidence of financial resources must also be provided.
