What is ResNet?

ResNet is any technology service or resource made available to students at Spring Arbor University that are supported by the Technology Services department. This includes access to the SAU network, webmail, MySAU portal, printers, wireless networking, computer repair service, One Card, Helpdesk, online help, and Technical Assistants (TAs), and much more.

Q1: What do I do if I need help with ResNet?
A1: Call the Help Desk at ext. 1234. If they can't help you they will put you in touch with a Technical Assistant who will call you to schedule an appointment to troubleshoot your ResNet problem. If you need help fast, you can bring your notebook (include power cord) or your computer tower to the Help Desk and someone will be available to help you.

 
  Q2. Is ResNet only for on-campus students?
A2. ResNet is specifically designed to serve all Spring Arbor University students;
  • Wireless networking,
  • access to email,
  • online webstorage,
  • academic technology such as mobile technology
    carts, in-classroom bunkers,
  • increased access to overhead projectors,
  • extended Help Desk hours,
  • Internet-based curriculum,
  • online course registration,
  • and the mySAU Portal,
have all been designed from the ground up to serve students who do not attend classes on the main campus.
 
  Q3. How do campus students connect their computers to ResNet?
A. During registration students will be given instructions on how to connect to ResNet. In the very near future ResNet connection instructions will be available on the ResNet Web site.
 
 

Q4: What computer do you recommend?
A4: ResNet recommends IBM ThinkPad and Apple iBook notebook computers. Visit the SAU Online Computer Stores at http://campus.arbor.edu/onlinestore to find out more.

 
 

Q5: What operating systems do you recommend?
A5: Windows XP Professional (SP1 or higher), or Apple Mac OS 10.3 (Panther or higher).

 
 

Q6: Do I need to bring my operating system recovery disks?
A6: Yes, just in case you have computer problems make sure you bring a copy of the recovery disks for your computer's operating system.

 
 

Q7: What if I don't have a computer?
A7: If you don't have a computer or your computer is not compatible with our network, you are welcome to use the public labs in the White Library, Kresge Student Center, and Lowell Hall.
