As a community that affirms the leadership of Jesus Christ in a technological world, Spring Arbor University requires and encourages responsible use of technology resources by students, faculty, and staff. Below are a few simple ways to glorify God in your use of technology.

1. Make it your goal to honor Christ in the way you use technology.

Col. 3:17
"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

2. Honor Christ by obeying the laws of the land.

Rom. 13:1-2
"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves."

3. Be diligent to protect your privacy, the privacy of others, and maintain a virus/spyware free PC.

Prov. 10:4 "Poor is he who works with a negligent hand, But the hand of the diligent makes rich."

Prov. 24:33-34 "A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man."

Acts 20:35 "In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

4. Be a good Steward and protect your valuable files - make back up copies.

Prov. 27:23-24 " Know well the condition of your flocks, pay attention to your herds; For riches are not forever, Nor does a crown endure to all generations.

5. Honor Christ through intellectual integrity - respect the intellectual property of others.

Eph. 4:25 "Therefore, putting away falsehood, let every one speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

Eph. 4:28 " He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor , performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need."

Luke 16:10 "He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much."

6. What you do on the network affects others. Demonstrate care for others by not abusing technology resources (e.g. downloading huge movies, wasteful printing, etc.).

Eph. 4:32 " Be kind to one another, tender - hearted , forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you."

Phil. 2:3-4 " Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others."
