Introduction
Teacher education is a major professional function of Spring
Arbor University, and one in which the principles of service to mankind as
expressed in the Christian ethic have primary influence. The Teacher Education
Program is designed to prepare teachers for the public and private schools
through a curriculum that encompasses a broad foundation in Christian liberal
arts education, specialization in a particular field or fields of knowledge,
and a comprehensive Professional Education sequence.
The Spring Arbor University School of Education offers the following
programs:
- undergraduate teacher education program leading to initial
certification at the elementary or secondary level in Michigan for traditional-aged
students, transfers, non-traditional-aged students, and post-baccalaureate
students from SAU or another institution; courses are offered on the
main campus in Spring Arbor and at sites in Alpena, Dearborn,
Gaylord, Lansing, and Petoskey. Here's what

- a program of courses counting toward continuing certification
or additional subject area endorsements for practicing teachers
- a Master of Arts in Education program
for practicing teachers; courses are offered on the main campus and
at sites in Alpena, Dearborn, Gaylord, Kalamazoo, and Lambertville
(Metro Toledo).
