Master of Arts in Counseling Spring Arbor University’s School of Adult Studies offers a 48-credit hour degree program, Master of Arts in Counseling: Emphasis School Counseling that is fully approved by the Michigan Department of Education. Individuals who complete this program and who pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) in Guidance Counseling will be able to obtain a School Counselor License (SCL) from the State of Michigan. If this same individual holds a valid Michigan teaching certificate, he or she may also add a Guidance and Counseling (NT) endorsement to their certificate. Note that one does not have to have a teaching certificate to earn the SCL. The School of Adult Studies admits students into this program, and determines course and graduation requirements. See the School of Adult Studies for all program information. Specific inquiries related to the NT endorsement should be directed to the Certification Officer in the School of Education. |
